WHERE can I order that pole and how tall do they come?!! 😮
Right here! amzn.to/3FiVGXC (also in the description) I can't remember the exact height but I wanna say up to 8ft?
Bro I love how your diy videos are so detailed and informative. Keep em coming!
Thanks brotha!! Appreciate it. I'll keep plugging along. Summer is busy with family and kids stuff but otherwise I'll see what I can do to keep this channel going!!
Excellent; I am doing this for closet doors so I have to do only one side. Thanks
You bet! Best of luck and you got this!! Best thing to remember, if your door knob can separate from the base and allow you to have more room to fasten the screw down, do it. It reduces the chances of stripping the screw or even scratching the knob. Best of luck! Lemme know how it goes!
I replaced my ceiling fan with light fixture now my problem is the light won't turn off completely looks like they're in dim.mode when i turn off the switch. Anyone experienced these?
can you go from a honeywell pro series to a regular nest? Or do you need a pro series Nest
Hey @neilpatel2898 👋 so I demonstrate exactly that. I go from a Honeywell pro series to a Google Nest. Now the thing you need to check is if you're current HVAC system is compatible with Nest. You can Google "nest compatibility checker" and Google does a good job at that walk through. There are only 2 different kinds of Nest thermostats. The normal Nest thermostat (looks like it has a cloudy screen and is more plastic-y) and then the Nest learning thermostat (looks metal, nice clear glass screen, better, etc). There isn't a Nest Pro thermostat. That is more for if you want someone who is installing your thermostat and they are a "Nest pro (professional)" to do the install. Does that help?
I don't think you have secured the fan to be safe for the weight and foot pounds the fan will be when in movement.
The box was already ceiling fan rated
What happens if your system has wires plugged into the S wiring holes on the Honeywell pro?
I would run through Google's compatibility checker and that will actually give you the chance to put in any wire you have and your setup, to see how Nest/Google would recommend installing your wires or if you're system would even work to support the Nest
Great way to make people think they can just install a fan where a light was and not need a box that can hold up the fan! This video is a accident waiting to happen. IT'S A TOTALLY MISLEADING INSTALL VIDEO!!!!!
I caveat to read the description and take note if the box is fan rated.
This is like the fifth video I watched on this, and it's by far the best.
Thank you!! Appreciate it and thank you for watching and commenting those kind words. Pinning this guy to the top
Thank you!!!!! My garage door didn’t come with a manual but rather a shit for shit app that is mainly useless!
Happy this was helpful! Thanks for watching and commenting :)
What about the weatherstripping on the bottom plate?
Often that is taken care of by a door sweep, which I could make a video on, or there is a bottom of the door strip that you have to screw on and then adjust the height then tighten. Didn't demonstrate that in this video but I have a storm door video that shows that bit
Thanks so much this was super helpful and very thorough it help me take out my washbasin and put in my vanity in the powder room I’ll be putting it on my page as well with your demo thanks 💜
You're welcome! Glad I could be helpful. Thanks for letting me know about putting it on your page. Can you send me a link when it's live? Would love to see it! :)
Doesn't say how to drill the holes for the anchors.
Straight to the point no extra dialog love it!!!
Thank you thank you! Appreciate the callout and watching.
Thanks. I just moved into a new house and master bedroom has a plate over the where the light fixture would be and the light switch on the wall. Do I need to use a specific light switch for a fan ? There’s a box full of switches here and figured I could just grab one of those. Great video btw
Great question. So often in newer built homes in the master bedroom (especially larger or more expensive places) the floor plan will call for ceiling recessed lights in the corners of the room, wire a ceiling rated box for the center, then just cover it with a plate. What I would recommend is take the plate (cover) off and try to see what kind of box you have. If it's ceiling fan rated, sweet (plenty of resources you can just Google 'how to know if a electrical box is ceiling fan rated) or you see if the box is secured to a joist. Attic access or looking around the box. If it is, Great 👍. The multiple switches is telling that it's likely already ceiling fan rated, but do you your homework. Sometimes those electrical boxes and just be for chandeliers, where it could be rated to hold heavier fixtures, but not rated to take on the constant moving like with a motor of a celling fan.
Thanks!
Thank you @maktastik7484 !! 🎉🎉 very kind of you.
Thanks! I had enough of the adhesive ones when my curtain rod fell and smacked me right on the forehead
100% don't go with the adhesive solution. This is much more sturdy. Hope you're okay!
I would definitely wear gloves
Really nicely explained, thank you
Welcome! Thank you for watching and commenting!
you didn't show the most important thing that is how you hanged the fan bracket
the screw won't go into the stud
Have you tried turning it on and off again? Haha. Kidding. Could be a few things: 1. The screw isn't grabbing because not enough pressure is being applied while getting to screw it in 2. It's not grabbing because the material behind your sheetrock isn't actually wood. Could be a plaster, a metal sheet or something else that a wood screw wouldn't normally grab 3. There is something obstructing it like a water pipe, pex, pvc clean out drain, etc. I would highly recommend trying to understand where any potential pipes or material your house is made up of to see if you are able to complete this project. This is just a demonstration of one way to complete this project. So if you have concerns or any issues, I would consult a local general contractor in your area. Best of luck!!
Awesome video.quick, short ,sweet,n to the point.HANDS DOWN THE BEST HOW TO VIDEO I EVER SEEN
Thank you!! Very kind of you and appreciate you watching and commenting 🤙
Definitely better than any other videos … very quick. One question please - what is Alt heat - Gas/Forced air/dont use fan? Which one I should select? Thanks Surya
Sorry just seeing this 2 days later Surya! So this step is helping your Nest understand what system you have so it can properly control it and give you the expected outcome. I can't exactly say which one you should select because I'm not aware of what you're heating system is. However, I found a link that could potentially be a good resource for you to make the best decision: support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9242116?hl=en
didnt really understand it all moved to fast, but squares l*w=v so v=sqft?
If you're measuring in inches and you want square feet you need to: - L in inches / 12 to get to ft - W in inches / 12 to get to ft L in ft x W in ft = sq ft
I appreciate help, but went too fast...ty anyway
Sorry! I'm talking slower in my newer videos. Thank you for commenting though!
I would think this is a simple job but the screws that hold in my dishwasher are on the inside, not accessible from the outside. Crazy I know, but can't see a way to get it out. I'd be curious why mine is set up this way. I need to replace the door latch but can't get the dishwasher out.
That's interesting. Have you tried to Google the make and model of your dishwasher to see if you are able to find a guide or if others have experienced the same issue with that make and model? I've installed quite a few dishwashers and have never seen one where the screws that secure it in place, aren't on the top or the sides.
@@ColtonCrumpDIY Thanks man. I am going to do that tonight. The latch broke which is annoying since it's a little cheap plastic latch - easy to break. I know I could replace it but there are only screws on the bottom. I can see metal brackets on the side going into the cabinet but the screws are on the i side so I can't access them. Hard to explain. I can see the screws lou red at me on the outside. GE GDF510PSJ0SS. I'll research. Otherwise, I'll have to call a service repair.
So I googled your model and from the assembly diagrams that I can see, if you can get the dishwasher open, the brackets are on the top. There is one diagram that it looks like it COULD be on the upper part of the sides, but the top seems to be the assembly location if I understood the diagram correctly
@@ColtonCrumpDIY Thanks, I am at work but am going to look again when home. I do see brackets on the side with the screws facing out from the inside. Odd I know. I would assume they be into the side cabinet. I will investigate again when home. Thank you for you help. :)
Best of luck!! You got this!
Hello! I am closing on a new build soon. It is a walkout so the lower part of the wall is cement, the top part is insulated. Would I still have to add insulation to the cement portion or can I just frame right over it?
Personally I would still insulate over anything cement. How cement is so porous, its not a good material to regulate the temperature of your home plus there is the moisture aspect. It comes down to how much of your wall is cement and how much are you okay with having that part of your home allow the possibility of more moisture and the outside temp influence your home temp. In this video the insulation is a cheap and put up by the builders but really is there because its a moisture barrier. After I got done framing this, I added more insulation between the studs to help with temp regulation.
@@ColtonCrumpDIY thank you so much!!! I will make sure to do that.
Quick question, where did you get your poles from?
You can get them off Amazon: amzn.to/3FiVGXC hope this helps.
I have to replace my wiring for the sensors...What is the easiest way to do this? I already bought new sensors off of amazon and when plugged directly into the unit they work...just need a longer wire to reach the garage door. What type of wire do I need for this?
Great question. I've seen/heard people use 18/2 bell wire, I've seen 18/2 security wire, 20/2 bell wire, some have even suggested a 22/2 wire. If it's for one garage door and it's a pretty basic/generic run of the mill garage door with sensors, you can get anywhere between a 20/2 bell wire to 22/2. Now this is all under the assumption that you are able rewire the sensors with a longer continual piece of wire, if not, you may have to cut the wire somewhere, strip it, cap it with more wire , then run that to your garage door opener. Does that help?
@@ColtonCrumpDIYyes super helpful thank you! I’ve picked up some wire and I’ll get to it today. One last question- I have the same “quick connect” terminals as shown in this video, for the sensors did you connect 2 wires into each quick connect terminal (2 white/2 black in each slot) or did you splice the 2 separate sensor wires into 1 and then connect that 1 white/1 black into the terminal? Thanks!
@timdilenschneider5534 either way to be honest. I personally just took the same color of each sensor and made sure they went into the same terminal. Then the same with the other color. You'll probably get a more secure connection if you twist them together into one then inserted.
Your covering up backflows. What in the hell? Is that permitted?
I know exactly where it is and able to lift up the carpet if needing to get to it. Other wise I've looked at some other options to cut a hole around it in the carpet and cap it.
If you did it a bit differently, you could have made a hidden wall safe for small valuables (hinged comes to mind).
BTC solves this!!
Bitcoin? 😆
@@ColtonCrumpDIY Thinking maybe some small jewelry or a few 'C'-notes. Digital money will become unavailable when the power goes out.
I literally have no idea what you're talking about
@@ColtonCrumpDIY I replied to your reply that said Bitcoin.
In the panel the breaker was a 20amp but the wiring was white (15 amp romex) was that accurate or am I seeing things? I think you should have yellow romex that’s rated for 20 amp circuit. I only say something because I am currently about to install my dishwasher and am finding conflicting information for dw circuit requirements.
So I'm not a certified electrician. From what I have seen and read (looking over NEC being a source), is the answer is it depends lol. How much power will your dishwasher draw to run, are you planning to put more on the circuit like a disposal or other outlets (maybe GFCI), or do you want to have t the dishwasher have is item dedicated circuit? This setup demonstrated had a the 15 rated Romex (white) protected by a GFCI on the same line running it to a 20 breaker. Which is fine to have the wiring rated less than the breaker but not fine to have the breaker less than the line. Hope this helps explain what you saw. I also didn't wire this house when it was built. Just demonstrating an ol swap-a-roo.
Thank you. I didn't use the tape. Thankfully, nothing cracked while I used the shims and took it off. It was very easy with this tutorial. I really appreciate it.
Love to hear it!! Nice job! Thanks for watching
I was trying to follow you, but there was an advertisement about Lowes that I couldn’t get off the screen
Sorry Robert! You can dismiss those by tapping on the dots next to the words and select "dismiss"
That video is super helpful. Makes me feel more confident on tackling this task.
I'm convinced. Thank you for your honest review. Loved the reference to Dead or Alive. RIP Pete Burns.
Classic from the 80s. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Is it really necessary to turn off the furnace, don’t remember doing that last time I did it ..
I do it so while I'm working on it, there isn't the chance of it attempting to turn on because of a temp change in the house and not having everything connected.
A handy man asked for $150 from to do this. My fan I purchased was only $150. Thanks for this.
Of course! Thanks for watching and glad I could help save you some $!
@@ColtonCrumpDIY People will pay $18 for fast food or $6 for Coffee but complain about $150 for a skilled handyman to travel to your house, complete your project, and deal with the fact you think you overpaid haha = Priceless...he should have charged you $250 since you clearly forgot about all the licensing and insurance costs that go into installing your fan. But if the box falls out of the ceiling call a pro.
Thanks for commenting Joe
Slow down omg I thought Eminem was speaking

Of course!! Thank you for your kind words and appreciate you watching and commenting :)
OTHER INSTALL NOTES: This is also a great time to flush your drain hose before installation, you'd be surprise how much gunk has accumulated over time. DIRECTIONS: Remove the hose entirely from the system and take it to another sink and run the water through the hose until the water passes through freely. (It’s BEST to execute this process outdoors with a garden hose if you do not have a laundry/utility sink to use.) Afterwards re-install it, on the sink side first.
Thanks for the additional suggestion of getting this drain hose cleaned out. I would add... this can also stink! Haha cheers man!
@@ColtonCrumpDIY Yep!
Laying it on its back for installation...was a new one for me, thanks! 😄
